History of Shepherd Racing
Shepherd Racing was started in 1954 when Jerry started racing go-karts. Then he raced cars for Bill Doster and A.W. Stone. He raced theirs for a couple years and then his daddy bought him one in 1965. It was a '53 Ford (#7). Later he also got a '55 Ford (#69), which made an appearance in the movie Greased Lightning. A couple years later he raced a '68 Chevrolet Impala (#33) for Steve Seargant.
As time progressed his sons Bud and Butch started to grow interested in racing. He bought them go-karts and passed the tradition on. At one point in time he had six go-karts in his possession. The boys each had one in three different classes. The cars/ go-karts were kept at a shop originally at Dot's mothers’ house. The current shop (pictured above) was built around 2005. Now the latest generation is starting to race and carry on the tradition.
